Description
Helping Hands
Reentry Outreach Centers provides Emergency Shelter in multiple locations in Oregon. Clients begin in emergency shelter, with up to 30 days to catch up on sleep, have hot meals and showers, and get to know Helping Hands staff and programs. All emergency shelter guests who are a good fit will be offered the opportunity to enroll in the Reentry Program.
The Reentry Program Helping Hands' case managers, crisis managers, and other staff help Reentry Program participants to identify key barriers. Individual Reentry Plans are customized to meet each participant's unique needs with measurable goals, and are updated often to check progress. Helping Hands provides support and accountability to help ensure follow-through with gaining access to necessary resources such as food stamps, housing assistance, official documents, and employment services. Over 70% of Helping Hands staff have lived experience.
Reentry Program Key Components include:
- Frequent drug & alcohol screenings
- Mandatory community service hours
- Job applications until employed
- Weekly process groups & recovery support
- On-site classes to build basic life skills
- Exclusionary Criteria
Helping Hands serves children and Domestic Violence survivors, and is not able to serve Registered Sex Offenders or those who are not permitted around women or children. Helping Hands' facilities are all sober campuses, so clients must not be in possession of or under the influence of any intoxicants on-site.
